After reading other reviews I was concerned that this would not work for my 3 year old grandson. It's about the size of a 5 year old and has a big bowler hat! I bought some fabric Velcro to secure the two ends under his chin, but it still wouldn't hold onto the pillow. I used the pillow several times during our trip from Central Illinois to PCB and back. Sometimes he moved too much to be useful (photo in blue shirt). On other occasions he would pass out and remain motionless for several hours (photo in red shirt) then after he fell asleep I could put it around his neck and tuck the ends under his chin well enough that he stayed asleep the whole time! In any case, I felt a lot better than usual when his head bobs forward and sideways, which usually happens when he's falling asleep in a car seat. Great buy, soft but holds head well, no odors, thinner back area is ideal for car seats. Don't leave home without this travel pillow.
