Review on Acer XV282K KVbmiipruzx: The Ultimate 4K FreeSync Backlit Monitor with Agile Splendor by Shane Saric

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just received but great monitor

Update: If your display seems to flicker black randomly or when you click on a window, make sure you disable GSYNC in the Nvidia Control Panel. Apparently it is if you have an HDMI source even if you are using DisplayPort with this monitor. If this happens just disable it, not worth it unless you are using it as a secondary monitor to a real GSYNC monitor. I followed another review's instructions for a nice HDR display: enable HDR in Windows settings, set NVIDIA color. Settings (bottom part of "Change resolution" option) to YCbCr422, 10 bits per channel and limited range. Be sure to enable HDR in the monitor settings OSD. In HDR mode it's beautiful and works/looks great at 144Hz and up. HDR is too bright for me so I returned medium brightness SDR and it looks pretty good/standard. You really have to play around with the display settings either in your operating system or the monitor itself to get things right. Don't worry if it looks wrong the first time. Overall this monitor is exactly as described and looks fantastic when you enable HDR. My biggest complaint is the cheap/wobbly stand. I would recommend finding a good replacement if possible. I didn't have any problems with the brightness other than HDR, but that's ok. Slight distortions seemed quite acceptable to me even with HDR switched on. The OSD controller is simple and intuitive, making it easy to use even with another monitor bordering on the edge. I highly recommend this monitor, I have upgraded from CB271HU and it is much better.
