Review on Aquasana 3-Stage Under Sink Water Filter System - 99% Chlorine Filtration & Oil-Rubbed Bronze Faucet - AQ-5300.62 by Gary Revils

Great filter, terrible hardware

So first, the bad.Purchased this filter last week and installed it over the weekend. The brass T fitting that ties into the cold water line was as cheap as it gets. The compression nut to connect the intake tube to the brass T fitting was out of spec and allowed water to erupt around the intake tube at the neck of the compression nut. Water quickly filled the bottom of my cabinet and soaked me a few times while I tried to get it to fit correctly. I tried to seal the contact point between the compression nut and the tube with silicone, but that failed as well, resulting in another blast of water to the face. The instructions were completely useless (and also, for what it's worth, never mention Teflon taping the fitting threads--which didn't help, but still should've been recommended).Completely fed up, I went to Home Depot and bought a new 3/8" brass T fitting, new 3/8" compression nut, sleeve, and insert, and new 3/8" polycarbonate tubing to replace the POS tubing that was supplied as well. I hooked all of that up and it's been dry and working like a charm ever since. All it took was another $20 in quality parts and a lot of aggravation. Now, the good. The filter and faucet (even the output line and hardware to the faucet) have worked flawlessly. The water tastes great. My coffee tastes better. Our soda stream seltzer is the best it's ever been. If Aquasana spent an extra $10 on better hardware, even if they passed that cost on to the customer, it would be well worth it.So, should you buy it? Yeah, you should. But get better hardware first and then install it. I would not trust the provided hardware at all after what I've seen. Too much potential to come home and find water everywhere.
