This Quill Pen Ink Set is a nice set up for beginners looking to learn calligraphy and create handsome looking lettering. Or a fancy and fun way to write out your spells, poems, or other things for which you may want a bit of something. special. My wife has wanted to learn calligraphy for awhile and when I saw this Quill Pen Ink Set grabbed it for her to learn on. She is using teaching videos from online to show her how and this Quill Pen Ink Set to create her (beginning) practice. So far she really likes the set, with just a couple notes of caution.The set arrives in a nice box, handsome looking and a world map that hints at the adventures awaiting as you learn this skill and use these items. It’s a nice box and packaging for gifting - yourself or someone else.There are pieces of paper here and all sorts of tools for creating your work, the quality of which is decent, but again, it’s all for a beginner. My wife was explaining the pieces to me, and I picked up a lot, but I’m still not sure what all they are for. There are a range of nibs; the pieces one sticks at the end of the pen. That’s a nice option - having to many. And at least two pens - both decorative and fun, allowing for your Renaissance Fair or Harry Potter-esgue fun. There are also several ink colors here, allowing for a range of options - wedding invites, party invites, poems, or whatever your imagination comes up with. This is the only real "con” my wife found in this Quill Pen Ink Set. In her reading and online research, this ink is on the okay to good end, not on the great end of inks for such work. She’s not 100% sure why - other than thickness - but it is hard for her to use. It’s very thin. As you might see in a couple pictures, there is a tendency to create a mess - beyond spilling. And it doesn’t "fill” the nib all that well. She has tried ink elsewhere and remembers it being a bit easier to use. So take that for what this beginner says - use this ink sure, but consider getting ink elsewhere to use with this Quill Pen Ink Set.In the end my wife really likes the options in this Quill Pen Ink Set and will spend many hours mastering the art and enjoying the outcomes. She’ll look for better ink, but she’ll practice with what she’s got. And she’s happy for the experience this Quill Pen Ink Set gives her.
