I am an astrophotographer. I needed an active USB 2.0 cable, longer than the usual 15ft USB standard, to connect to a Santa Barbara Instruments Group (SBIG) STL 6303e astrocamera with a large chip and cooling. This one (32 feet long) works perfectly, doesn't require an external power supply, and can download files just as fast as a shorter USB cable. It connects to both the main camera and the slave camera of the Auto Guidance. No background noise or other problems. I will buy another one as a replacement. In the cold and 100+ is normal. The amplifier part is a small block that meets the cable about 3 feet from one end. It's about three times the size of the cable and about 4 inches long so it doesn't get in the way. Gear.
