screen flickering; the screen goes black; Low caliber HDMI; Can't handle 4K 60Hz video from graphics card

These cables have been the bane of my entertainment system. I spent hours, even days, trying to figure out what was wrong with my A/V receiver and why it flickered and went black when I passed a 4k 60Hz signal. The audio still plays, but the video can't handle it at all. There was a lot of screen tearing and then the video went black for about 3-7 seconds every 15 seconds of video playback, making everything completely unwatchable. Video signal was good between power outages. After countless software and firmware updates, and going through every setting known to man on my system, I finally decided to try the unthinkable: a different HDMI cable. I used the "best" HDMI cable I thought I had, one of the "overpriced" Sony cables I had. Before that I had the fact that this is all marketing bullshit and that the quality of the cable is the same for everyone. Note that the strength of these cables is not mentioned anywhere in the list. I am sure that this indicator is really important, even if some others claim otherwise. Switching the HDMI cables completely solved my problem. In fact, after a few years I forgot about this issue and tried to reuse the cable for a new build. Same problem. I didn't even run it through the A/V receiver and it still had the same black screen and screen tearing issues when playing videos. Note: This was only when playing videos. And I play my video content at a very high bitrate. The Bitrate Every HDMI Cable Should Support! The fact that it can't handle my system's video bandwidth means it's an inefficient data channel. Don't buy it if you want to play games or videos through an expensive 4k 60Hz graphics card. It flickers and the screen goes dark every few seconds. every time Without exceptions. Several builds I've tried this on now after owning these cables for over 2 years.

Pros
  • Color code and organize audio/video connections with this cost-effective 3-color 4K HDMI combo cable; Easily fix connectivity issues at a glance instead of pulling HDMI cables to test connectivity
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
