Overall the flashlight is quite expensive, although I haven't had to use it for a long time to see if it can withstand prolonged use. The biggest problem is the flexible gooseneck that connects the camera clip/mount to the lighting ring. It's too springy, thus making it difficult to position and hold the camera/phone in the desired position. The swan neck wants to return to a fully extended or upright position. In other words, don't assume that the camera/phone won't move from where you put it, especially if you're recording for a long time. This spring force also makes it difficult to place the phone in the correct position. Also, when using a mid-sized smartphone, the length of the gooseneck forces you to position the phone in front of the ring of light, which means the gooseneck is bent forward so far that the phone itself blocks some of the light. casts a shadow over the subject. You can position the phone behind the light source again, but then it's less desirable for close-ups. The workaround is to manually hold the phone horizontally with a bright face while taking a photo, which makes taking selfies of any kind a bit tricky. If you're taking selfies or videos with a fixed camera position, you'll have to put up with shading or magnifying ambient or other light sources and/or develop a different mount/mounting system. Because I love design and 3D printing, I designed two different mounts, one for landscape and one for portrait. If you are interested in 3D printing and familiar with Thingiverse, you can find free downloads by searching "Dakason Ring LED Light Bracket". Update: I originally gave three stars. It should be closer to 3.5-4 stars so I upped my rating to 4 stars.
