Works well but awkward to set up

I just drove 2000 miles along the Pacific coast with these switches. Within the first few hundred miles the plastic lever cover on the right side fell off. Admittedly, this is primarily due to the exact geometry of my bike - if the handlebars are turned all the way to the right, the brake cable on the frame can get in the way of the right shifter - but it could have been glued better. I also found this a bit tricky to set up as the behavior of the indexing system changes depending on how you use the center spacer/indexer. Finally, I had a little problem with loosening the screws, so once you've installed it to your satisfaction, I recommend you use a screw lock (like blue Loctite). After about the first 1000 miles I switched from index to friction shifting (you turn the dial on the right shifter). When pulling the cable, the indexing became inaccurate. A nice side effect is that the force-fit shifting has much less resistance. If you ride all day, every day and shift hundreds of times a day, friction mode shifters are a lot easier on your hands and fingers.
