Review on UCTRONICS Raspberry 1024×600 Capacitive Touchscreen 7", Portable, HDMI, HD by Joe Sandoval

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works on my Pi4 in my review

The screen works fine so far, I plan to use this device as a car entertainment system and car diagnostic/tuning center ("PiDash" with OpenAuto and TunerStudio). Angles and higher resolution are key. This screen looks great, better than most car head units I've seen. Colors are vibrant and it supports a high 75Hz refresh rate. Touch input is a bit off, but as some have mentioned, there's probably a way to calibrate it. I initially had "no signal" issues, but they stemmed from the OS I was running on the Pi4. It seems that when booting from Ubuntu Server 19.10 for Pi4, no resolution is negotiated for the screen size. As soon as I connected a Philips 1080p monitor to the Pi4 at boot, and then connected a UCTRONICS monitor, the display worked. I ended up dropping the Ubuntu 19.10 server and turning on Raspbian and haven't had any issues since. So far very happy with the purchase!

Pros
  • very easy to assemble and big enough to read the screen (7 inch)
Cons
  • Beware of false advertising, it's actually a 5-inch screen, not seven.
