Review on Enhance Efficiency with GEARWRENCH Pitbull Auto Bite Tongue Material by Jacob Leon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality pliers, autobite not very useful but useless

Let me first say that I have only used them 2 days but wanted to share my first impressions as there are and are no other reviews A few points I wish other buyers were aware of when considering these pliers. I'll start with the good; The finish and workmanship is absolutely top notch, for the price it's a great tool. I can already tell something about the steel quality / hardening and heat treatment of these pliers, the gripping teeth in particular are, dare I say, tight. If not the same strength as Knipex. I work with a lot of hardened, high quality industrial fasteners, I can tell a good pliers from a bad one very quickly. On a bad pair, the teeth of the pliers will instantly deform if you try to bite into and twist the hardened clasp, on a good pair, like these serrated pliers or Kobra Knipeks, they will bite and deform the clasp and teeth of the pliers stay in shape and sharp. The teeth on the serrated wrench pliers hold up great after testing and show little to no wear beyond their reasonable limit which is why they deserve 5x rain from me, I've ruined so many pliers by destroying the teeth. ok, and before i found them only channel lock and knipex could handle abuse in my experience. The grips on them are great if like me you prefer comfortable grips, just the right softness to grip your hand but stiff enough to last a long time. Take it what you will, but in my opinion, at least on the pair I got, the auto-bite function is buggy. I have found that when using the autobite the locking mechanism in the pliers does not work to lock the pliers. This may be intentional, or my pair may be faulty. This means that when using the Autobite the pliers slide over the fasteners and can hardly apply the same torque as with the Autobite switched off. I don't think it's complete or anything, but I think it would only be good in low-torque situations or repeated grabs/holds. and they work great and are quick to set up. But if you're just buying them because they have an auto-bite feature, I'd look elsewhere. Overall I'm happy with it and am happy to add it to the long side of my many pliers and Knipex pliers. . Also of note is that the 6-inch device fits perfectly and comfortably in my pocket for quick repairs.
