A great idea in theory, but there are some pitfalls in practice. On the plus side, it butters rolls and toast quite well. Since everything is stainless steel, you can add it straight to the pan to melt and preserve the melted butter. The main downside is the amount of butter that needs to be melted in order for the roller to sink deep enough to butter the bread. I had to melt 6 or 7 sticks to butter a dozen buns and when I couldn't butter anymore there was almost a pound of butter left under the loaf. Also, the kit did not include a lid for storing leftover oil in the fridge. I opted for the Blackstone version, which is more expensive but has a shallower V-shaped design that doesn't need as much oil to run and comes with a plastic lid to store leftover oil in the fridge. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
