As a guy that borders on L to XL, I usually regret the tightness of buying an L, but buying an XL usually feels big and square on. Lots of extra material around the middle and under the armpits. That's how these shirts fit me, loose, bulky areas, but extremely comfortable - a bit too big to wear openly for my liking (similar to what the photo shows). These shirts appear to be of excellent quality, heavyweight material (unlike the cheap, ill-fitting Henleys I have at my local department stores). favourites. I expect them to do their job just as well. Also bought a pair of Henleys in Duluth to see how they compare to these. Quick update: I've worn Carhartt and Duluth Henley shirts, both shirts are high quality and very comfortable; I prefer Duluth at the moment, it fits me much better, there is no "spider web" of excess material under the armpits. Maybe I'll try Large next time.
