Passwords are old fashioned and not very secure these days. Being able to log in to your computer with biometric data is ideal. This device makes it easy on Windows 8 and 10, at least. I opened the Windows Hello setting in Settings and then connected the device. Within a minute, Windows Hello told me I could use the device and walked me through a setup very similar to fingerprint setup on older iPhones and some Android devices. Now logging in is easy. I just touch the device and BOOM, I'm in. I've never let the computer lock automatically because I didn't like having to enter the password every time. Even using the Windows Hello PIN feature has become cumbersome. Now my computer is set to automatically lock after two minutes of inactivity because logging in is so damn easy! The device itself is slightly larger than the USB dongle that comes with most wireless mice/keyboards. I use it on a desktop PC so it doesn't really matter. On some laptops, it can protrude a little more than some people like. I don't have a Windows laptop, so I can't tell you. I have a Chromebook and a Linux laptop. Unfortunately, this device does not work on any of them. It would be great if that were the case, but it isn't. It doesn't claim that either, so I wasn't surprised when I tried it and nothing happened. Maybe sometime. In any case, love, love, LOVE! I highly recommend getting one, especially if you don't like passwords like I do.
