I recently went for a walk along the UK coast. I wore them 13 of the 16 days I went. I wore them even when the weather was perfect, for the ground we walked on was swampy and dusty, and we trampled through the swamps. They received the 5th starting score as they were tested to the extreme for 3 days. Of these, 2 days went in the snow; 1 day was 4 inches of it. And the 3rd day was rainy. Proof that it worked was when I walked into the room and undressed. The part of the pants just below the knees and the part of the shoes that covered them were the only dry parts on my feet. I'm 5'4 and they came just below the knees. I was wearing black pants and didn't look like I was wearing spats until you got closer to me. They are easy to put on even while standing. The hook on the shoelaces remained even when I forcibly pulled my legs out of the snow. They got dirty with sticky mud but didn't last long and I haven't cleaned them yet and they look like new. Another good thing is that they are light weight and don't feel like I'm wearing them and they are easy to put on. roll up and remove. It was a last minute purchase in case the weather was good. This is one of the best buys for this trip and other hikes to come.
