I have two boys both skate, ride bikes actually I'm not sure what they do with bikes would qualify as riding more like controlled violence. I bought them their first pair of DC sneakers. years ago and we have also tried different shoes, none of the other shoes have ever taken the punishment these kids have been subjected to, the difference in quality is huge, my eldest son put his foot through the sole as a brake on a competitor's shoes one day. After that I was sold and since then I've only bought DC for them so I bought a pair, went up a size like I did for them, I'm not as picky about my kicks as they are, I wear them to work and I can't think of a more comfortable shoe I'm out all day and the last thing on my mind is my feet I'm tired of buying shoes that have proven themselves in every way, by the way DC is for me and never look back
