Purple for my black Dell laptop a long time ago. The bottom is well ventilated for air. Both parts snap easily into place. As for protecting the computer if I drop it, I just don't know. I slid a little off the couch onto the carpet and the pieces stayed in place. They're only plastic, so if they fall on a hard surface, they'll pop out (maybe?)? I just do not know. But I feel the corners are a bit more protected than without, my computer is now a purple color which I like and the top cover wipes clean easily. Make sure you get the tip in the right direction. It will definitely fit, but if it's not right, the top and bottom will touch and you'll hear a rubbing sound when you open it. That's right, it still rubs a little, but that's not a problem. Love the legs at the bottom to lift the computer's base off the desktop surface. It's only plastic so they can break, but if you handle them carefully they should hold up. I probably won't move it open-legged, but rather pick it up and mount it again when I need to move it. I would not recommend young children using the legs as I don't think they will last very long.
