Easy to install, works well and cheap so good for learning the basics. The case is plastic, everything is attached to a small screw at the bottom. The system can be easily disabled in under a minute with a small Phillips screwdriver and a small piece of wire. Simply remove the screw and connect the yellow "Push" wire to the black "GND" wire and the system will shut down. The RFID range is pretty good, my table is a 1.5 inch chopping block and gets read through. It's fun to learn how keyboard RFID readers work, though. To make it a bit more secure, I installed mine under the counter in the corner so it's hidden and the RFID is read through the counter. I'm also considering removing the RFID coil (remove 4 screws on the board) and moving the keyboard to a safe place inside and the transponder coil under the counter. So even if you know an RFID reader exists, you just can't beat it. Bottom line: I may eventually upgrade to a more advanced system, but so far it's working and has been a great learning tool. It's cheap, so there won't be much loss if a hack breaks it. My current application is for an interior door, so I'm not overly concerned about someone breaking in, but I would never use this unit for an outside entrance that a reasonably competent thief would pry open with a Phillips screwdriver and a 4" bit can.
