Here's the thing. I'm a little angry that I spent so much money on other Walmart towers, Petco and Petsmart. Don't get me wrong, my cat loved them and loved their rug. But this tower is for a long time. It's VERY durable and our family loves that we can customize it. Natural wood gives us the opportunity to paint or polish it to allow this large cat tower to blend in with the house decor and my husband loves that he can use wood glue to attach rugs or rope to places where our cats use such would scratch. Luckily we haven't had to adjust it yet because we like it the way it is. We've been towing for a month now. Our cat loves to sit and watch the birds. But she does more than that in the new tower. Things we love: Its size, large bases for our little 10 lb cat to stretch out and lie on, two boxes with few entries (helps our cat feel safe and warm) and its quality (her sturdier , crisp cut, simple and easy to assemble). We feed our cat at one of the bases to keep the dog away from her food. What to look out for: The wood is not polished or stained - it is sanded to a smooth finish which can be difficult for older cats or cats with untrimmed nails. The included liners in the cat boxes are not attached (but they are soft and snuggly). Finally, it's heavy and big, so consider building it closer to where you want it permanently placed. We have a two year old and she is a climber. We are not afraid that she will break it. It is very stable and durable. This cat tower is perfect for a standard very large cat (I would say it could be used for a small/medium maine coon cat) or two small/medium sized cats. Our little cat is so incredibly lucky to have such a big tower, like having an apartment of her own. The best we could come up with for a cat. She doesn't even think about lying on the couch or ruining the carpet.
