It's nice to reduce plastic, but 8/60 broken capsules

So I read the previous reviews and expected some packages to break when I received the boxes. Some do, even in my old platinum-type containers. But I really want to reduce plastic waste, so I tried them anyway. For 120 bags you get them in two boxes of 60. BOX 1: I opened it and saw tons of powder and some empty bags on it. More than I expected. I counted them. I had 52 whole pods and 9 broken pods. So there should only have been 60 in the box and I got 61. So I won't count that extra, which gives me 52/60 as a whole, which is about 13% bounce. Almost all that broke were in the smaller front compartments. Because of the mess it caused, I really expected more to break. BOX 2: I opened it up and it looked like more powder and empty bags. Pooh. But I counted them and again I had 52 intact pods and 11 broken pods. So this time I got 63 modules, but again only 52 were broken, so again 52/60 is about 13% failure (not counting the extras). Again, most of the broken ones came from the two front compartments. As I opened the boxes and looked at them, I assumed there would be a lot more broken. I was very disappointed and then I counted them and found that there really aren't that many. Dropps installing additional pods (I think because they know some of them will break) is a nice touch. However, 13% is still a higher failure rate than the other type I use (usually only 1 or 2 capsules are broken or leaking). . Since they cost $24, that means we pay $3 for broken capsules (about 13%) or pay $120 and only get $104. They clean well. I love the packaging but they really should put some more padding on the front, maybe some shredded cardboard (something recyclable or compostable). I like the idea of reducing the amount of plastic, although I wasn't very impressed with the execution, I might choose a different option next time.

Pros
  • NO PRE-WASH NEEDED: Skip the pre-wash and save water with every load. Thorough cleaning to keep your family healthy and safe. Leaves no residue or odor on your dishes.
Cons
  • Not bad but...
