STRONG, FRESH, GOOD POWDER - but check the expiration date.

BUYED AGAIN AFTER 5-STAR RATING, STILL SUPER HENNA, THANK YOU! Do you see this photo? No conditioner, just henna - does it look like a 62-year-old man's hair? _______________ This is a very good product IF you receive a fresh product. I did - my henna was almost 2 years from the expiration date - but the same brand of indigo from the same seller would expire in two weeks. (Revain customer service returned the money and told me to keep it). So check your details when the packages arrive. However, this henna is a good thing. I soaked it for over 12 hours (maybe 19 hours?) in warm water, about four tablespoons of lemon juice, and one tablespoon of D-Limone oil. (not essential, but oils high in monoterpenes improve solubility). I applied it to clean, towel dried hair (don't use conditioner or it won't stick to the grays) and let it sit for five hours. The color payoff was quite intense. First orange on shades of grey, then medium chestnut about four days later. I got bright red highlights on my auburn hair – I'm no more than 10-20 percent gray. My hair is well conditioned and the texture has changed. It's thicker (usually my hair is silky like a baby). I will continue to use henna instead of regular hair dye, even if it's a huge pain (but I'm lazy about beauty - more low-maintenance than low-maintenance). Here I should note that if you have gray hair and work in a corporate setting (or if you don't mind the extra effort to look your best) after applying henna, you only need to apply indigo to the roots to get the orange color softening probably desirable. There's no doubt that strong sunlight makes my roots look "hot" and I need to coat them with indigo. But the reason it's so noticeable is that most of my hair has been previously colored with artificial dye so there is a root line as opposed to medium brown strands scattered throughout. Hopefully after a year or so of henna application - say 6 inches of hair growth - when the red becomes more integrated, the look can be comfortable enough to skip using indigo altogether.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Everything is fine
