This is the perfect product for what I need. I had a mated pair of male rats. One has died, the other cannot be resocialized. (Adult males can be aggressive and end up injuring or killing new cagemates.) Still quite young, he is sadly forced to be a solitary rat for the rest of his life. We try to interact with him as much as possible and that's a godsend. It took him a minute to get used to it, but he likes it. I just bring him in with some snacks and he hangs out with me for hours. It's pretty much hands-free, so I can do things like housework, eat snacks, watch TV, etc. It also wicks away moisture very well, so if your pet has an accident, it won't hit you all over your body. You can just put it directly into the washing machine to clean it. I also like that it is open on all sides so my rat can stretch his head back and forth as he pleases. If you have a runner, it may not be entirely free to you.
