UPDATE: COLLAR BROKEN AFTER 1 1/2 YEARS WITHOUT CUSTOMER SUPPORT I have tried a wireless fence and another recessed fence. I sent them back because of the unpredictability. This one (KoolKani) is AWESOME. However, you must read the instructions carefully. A few details: The collar's battery really lasts about a month. We use it every day in the yard and in the field. - Base station (for earth fence) has separate settings for horn/vibration and shock. So I set the horn/vibration at 10ft from the wire and the shock at 4ft. Nice feature. - I was able to use my existing underground fence wire (from an old PetSafe system). - The base station will beep when the wire breaks. 2 to reduce time and intensity. Everything about it is shocking for TWO SECONDS! - Please note that the beep or vibration always lasts 2 seconds (when using a portable device) - Note: The fence does not have a 2-second problem. It is "smart" (beeping, then short jerking only when calling). - You set the remote control to beep, shock, or vibrate, THEN press the "T" button to activate that action. - So you can't quickly beep and then shock. The beep lasts 2 seconds, then you need to switch the mode to shock. Wish list: - It would be nice if the base unit had a switch - It would be nice if the portable unit could temporarily turn off the fence. When we go for a walk I have to remember to turn off the base unit (I have it on a switchable surge proof plug. It would be nice if the wearable could beep/vibrate for less than 2 seconds. Overall the system is a real deal. It feels looks like the person who developed it actually USED it for a while.
