This is a really slim tripod. Take this for a video, choose something else for a photo. This tripod seems as solid as the Manfrotto with no name and perhaps without the same level of quality control. I unpacked mine, let it warm to room temperature and then tested all the functions. I used blue locktite on any threaded connections that I want to leave in place. Then I put my camera on it and checked its movement. My setup has too much weight at the top for the vertical pan's self-return feature, but that's fine. In either case, most of the panning occurs along the horizontal plane. I can say that the first parts to break are the latches to adjust and hold leg position. They're plastic when Manfrotto uses powdered sintered metal, which is actually just a step up, machined aluminum is stronger. If you receive the same product as me, you will be very satisfied with it!
