This is a really slim tripod. Take this for a video, choose something else for a photo. This tripod seems as solid as the Manfrotto with no name and perhaps without the same level of quality control. I unpacked mine, let it warm to room temperature and then tested all the functions. I used blue locktite on any threaded connections that I want to leave in place. This tripod was a terrible disappointment, and that was due to just one design flaw. The tripod itself makes a solid and durable impression. It opens very easily and is fixed/tightened fairly well. I was between this and the more expensive Manfrotto. I was sold this for the lower price and it converts into a monopod. This tripod is of very good quality! It's mostly metal, except for the notches, which are made of hard plastic. It's very durable and the fluid head provides smooth, satisfying pan and tilt. Works great with my GH5.
