Review on Camera Tripod Degree 70Inch Camcoder by Nathan Jones

Sturdy and smooth

I'm no pro but have recently started shooting short marketing videos for work so I needed something to hold the Canon EOS M50, sometimes a teleprompter and whatnot always. This tripod does a great job on a budget. The turning and tilting is very smooth and professional, and the arm is nice and long with a good grip. Build quality seems solid enough for my needs - it mostly stays installed in my home office, with occasional travel. As others have said, it's not the lightest device out there, but it folds up and fits in a carrying case fairly easily. The QR mounting plate is 50mm wide making it compatible with the Manfrotto 500 series. I was able to purchase a universal replacement plate to permanently mount my teleprompter on. I have a few minor complaints that may or may not affect its usefulness to you. First, the spirit level is in such a position that you cannot look at it directly. So I'm not always sure if I've leveled the tripod correctly. Second, the monopod feature seems useless. You have to remove the entire center speaker, including the clunky pan/tilt head, and mount it on one of the legs. This makes the monopod quite heavy, which is useless for me - although I think it might be for others. The instructions weren't clear on how to do this either - I kept trying to remove the head just below the ball joint, but I had to remove the small hook plug at the bottom of the adjustable post and then pull it up and out the vertical adjustment sleeve. This part is then attached to a detachable tripod leg. However. Small point otherwise good product.

Pros
  • Center post and base plate adjustment
Cons
  • Damaged
