Does the job - the heart of the carrying system

The OP/TECH USA System Connector - Reporter/Backpack is the heart of a great DSLR backpack carrying system. They are attached to the straps of the backpack. They are intelligently designed for normal conditions. I bought this kit to take my Nikon D70s on day hikes in the surrounding mountains. Other reviewers have noted the plastic snaps used to attach them to backpack straps. I took no chances and ordered a set of Grimlocs (Grimloc Military D-Ring Vest Backpack Clip Snap Foliage Green (Charge of 4)) which are more than enough to support a DSLR in suspicious terrain. I have a Nikon 18-70mm zoom camera hidden in a Case Logic SHC-101-BK DSLR Day Holster - Black. The extortion hike was longer than expected, 11.6 miles/2600 feet vertically, mostly cross-country, over a deserted road. This ranged from "walking in the country" to "oh my god! Why am I doing this?!" The straps on it are short enough to keep the camera from bouncing, but (barely) long enough to shoot in both portrait and landscape orientations. I'm 5ft 8" tall - if you're much taller than me, you'll probably need longer straps than this.I also have an OP/TECH USA - Sling (black) universal strap that is compatible with this system so I can wear my camera around my neck when I I'm not backpacking, once on the spot it was easier and quicker to grab a DSLR and start shooting than grab a point and shoot out of a vest pocket.

Pros
  • Made in the USA
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
