Great mug except it leaks

I really like these mugs except for one big flaw. it's been cold for a long time. They're not as good as a vacuum canister in that regard, but I wasn't expecting that either. They keep hot coffee or tea pleasant to drink for at least a couple of hours. I love that they are microwave and dishwasher safe. I am for ease of use. They have a wide body and foam padding on the bottom to keep them from slipping or tipping over easily. Now for the bad: the lids leak where they make contact with the mug, but only occasionally. I only had mugs for a few months before I first noticed that a few drops of coffee ran down the front of the mug after I tipped it to drink. I assumed that somehow I had poured some coffee on the outside of the mug and gotten into the groove where the mug connects to the lid. I wiped the cup and groove outside and it didn't leak again that day. However, both cups leaked from under the lids from time to time, with the leak slowly getting so bad that I could pretty much count on it. They leak every time I use them now. This morning I poured hot tea into one of them and brewed for about an hour before the first drops appeared. It seems that temperature changes can affect the lid as it cools. I've made sure the lid and rim of the mug are clean, but that doesn't help. Just for reference, the mugs are sometimes used in the microwave (sometimes with the lid, sometimes without), but I think I've only run them in the dishwasher once. I usually just wash them in the sink. In short, a great mug with a small but crucial flaw. I can't let them drip on my clothes. It's time to look for something else.

Pros
  • Non-slip rubber base
Cons
  • Not bad
