All of my box turtles love these pellets and they smell so good, like a fruit smoothie! I just wish they were softer. I soak them in warm water and they swell and soften, which the turtles love.

My East Bay box turtle loves this food. I typically soak a couple tablespoons of dry pellets in warm water for about 20 minutes, then sprinkle the wet pellets over whatever he eats. This food smells really good (fruit) and he's a picky eater so it helps motivate him to eat.

I'm pretty sure my two rescued box turtles from Florida have never eaten this in their lives. I decided to give it a try by mixing it with fresh fruits and vegetables. Vitamin A is the most important supplement your box turtle needs. Newly adopted crates came to me and they almost always had pneumonia the next spring due to a history of poor nutrition. I have had a captive bred box turtle for ten years. She loves to eat her worms and fresh fruits and vegetables, but she needs calcium year-round. My tortoise loves it. She has been a pet for over 40 years. It's more balanced and lower in fat than cooked ground beef (her favorite after earthworms). My turtle is not a big fan of vegetables so it needs a balanced diet. Since she was previously overweight (unable to fully retract her legs or head into her bowl), eating like this helped her stay in good shape. I haven't fed Dotty yet, I'll let you know when I see what she's eating. I used the T Rex brand but the dog ate the ENTIRE container. Bought it as a last resort. We'll see how it goes. Our box turtles are a bit spoiled and it's the only packaged food they both continue to eat willingly (others we've tried in the past have been consistently rejected ) . The food needs to be slightly damp before they take an interest in the food. I've found that a small amount of warm water absorbs faster than cold water. If feeding from a bowl/plate allow some water to soak up before offering and if using a flat surface allow the feed portion to soak up the water in the cup before spooning…

Well the only good thing I can say is that the turtles love it. I had it on a slab but they are dirty and threw a lot of small pellets in the dirt. IMAGINE my shock when I walked into my room the next day and found mold everywhere. I couldn't believe I just changed her dirt. That's when I realized what had happened. The pellets found their way into the wet mud and mold began to grow wherever the pellets landed. I spend 2 hours removing all the dirt and cleaning her house to get rid of the mold.
