This is a compact meter that gives you six readings on a single power lead around which you can clip a small ring magnet. The meter displays voltage, current, watts, watt hours, frequency and power factor. The small ring clip opens so you don't have to cut or break the cable you're measuring. The hinge is made out of cheap plastic, so it would be a good idea to break the habit of opening and closing it as the plastic will break after a certain number of cycles. The wires on the ring terminal are only about 8 inches long and the wire is very thin. You will need some extra wire (not included) to power the meter itself and connect to hot and neutral. The third picture shows the connection diagram and is not very detailed. Since our lamps are bottom fed in the US, I have labeled this red wire as "hot" and the blue wire as "neutral". I have a small 120v generator that I use for power outages and I get 30 usable amps to power my main appliances. I installed a 30 amp RV entry box in front of my house and powered the house with three 20 amp GFCI outlets so I had a separate circuit on each floor of my house. Because I can't draw more than 30 amps. I needed a way to control how many amps are going into the house and this meter looks like a ticket. The gage clamp is housed around a 10 gauge hot leg in a duplex box mounted over the 3 piece GFCIs. I installed the gauge in a blank panel for an external two-piece box. The gauge manual lists the cutout as 87mm wide x 47mm high. I marked an 87mm x 47mm cutout on the board, drilled the corners and cut out a rectangle with a copy saw. The counter has several raised plastic pieces on the left and right edges that flex to create friction and hold the counter in the hole. hot around. On a simple system with one hot and one neutral I didn't expect it to make much of a difference and everything seems to work fine.
