Doesn't work with audiobooks!

I had a previous iHome Bluetooth speaker (model iBT72) that worked great for about three years. When the old model was phased out, I hesitated to order the iHome iBT61BC. The iHome iBT61BC Bluetooth speaker has good enough sound for music - I've used it with both a Windows PC and an iPhone 8 to play Christmas music - so not a huge issue. However, the main use of this speaker is to amplify the sound. Audiobooks on iPad, iPhone 8 and Windows. personal computer I think the speaker is having trouble reproducing some of the lower registers of human speech in audiobook mode. Up to four syllables are deleted every few minutes, sometimes making it difficult to follow the plot of a book that is missing so many words. I've encountered this problem at distances from a few inches up to 20 feet, so not a bug. There is just something wrong that causes the speaker to skip certain registers of the spoken word in audio books. I played back the same footage without the Bluetooth speaker, of course, just using the built-in speaker on each device. The playback via the built-in loudspeaker of the device is flawless in any case. I've tried a dozen different audiobooks from different publishers on the iBT61BC - all with the same disastrous result. I spoke to the manufacturer who suggested I return the product to the store. Salesperson. Having had such good experiences with the earlier iBT72, I didn't hesitate to try a replacement or a different iHome model.
