Review on SanDisk Extreme CFast Memory Card by Kevin Flores

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Defective product - terrible customer service

I would like to start by saying that I have been a professional photographer for over 15 years. And I've used a lot of Sandisk memory cards over the years. I recently purchased this 128GB CFast 2.0 card to pair with my 1dx MK II. The first shoot went quickly, very quickly. But when importing the images, I noticed corruption on the lower right side of the image. Canon assured me that this was due to a defective card and that I should format it and try again. After a few hundred frames and after formatting, the damage reappeared. I consulted with Sandisk and they informed me that the card was indeed defective and that I should send it in for an RMA. Unfortunately, this is an approximately 2 week process. They want to charge me $30 to expedite the refund. Hardly an acceptable window for those who rely on these cards for work. I understand there are flaws, but I've only had this card for 40 days and it's already been withdrawn. At around $400 each, it will be some time before I can afford an arsenal of these cards. So now all I have to do is go into the field with standard CF cards as backups. (not acceptable for 4k video) I am currently using Lexar. Congratulations Sandisk, you just lost a 15 year old loyal customer.****UPDATE****After I received my new card from Sandisk (it took just over 2 weeks btw) and updated to the latest Canon Updated firmware for my 1DX MKII, I get a brand new error (see pics). Fiction! I'm going to field on a 7 day mission and I have a $300 card. Now I'm the proud owner of 4 of these crappy little cards, so dropping 1 is a big deal. Sure, I have a few CF cards, but it doesn't help much when I need to switch to 4k video. ***Update*** Sandisk replaced all my cards and now they work perfectly with my 1DX MKII. I have changed my rating to 4 stars.
