We swore we wouldn't sleep with our second child. Then life kicks in and you need to sleep... but I felt uncomfortable as he slept between us. Because no matter how tired we are. Well, you can imagine the fears. I went here on a whim and ordered it. It saved OUR LIVES! My son doesn't want to sleep far away from us, he needs us next to him. And frankly, we need him by our side. As soon as we plant him, he'll be KO'd. He immediately understands that it's time to sleep! I'm not sure what Doc-Child is, so I can't compare. However, I would assume it's the same thing. This is simply cheaper and worth every penny. My son will be 3 months soon so we only recently untied him as he is getting longer.
