Mattress lifters may work better with other mattresses. My California king mattress is very heavy as it is made of memory foam and can be a little deeper than some more common mattresses. I glue mattress stays near the foot end of the bed on each side. I usually place my foot on the bed frame near each corner of the bed and lift the mattress over my knee. I have to lift it high enough to tuck the sheet under the bottom of the mattress from the corner of the bed to the middle of the edge. The mattress lifter helps when I need to grab the mattress to lift it. However, the lift sometimes slips after I lift the mattress. Sometimes I welcome lifters, but when they fall out because I have to lift the mattress so high, they annoy me. At the moment I still use them, but sometimes I work without them. No matter how you look at it, making a king bed is a workout!
