Purchased to protect against both bed bugs (we often have guests) and liquids. Unfortunately our cat was accidentally locked in the room with our guest bed for the night and did what cats do when they don't have a litter box. It wasn't fun but what was even more annoying was the cat pee leaked through the duvet and sheets and then through the pillowcases! Not just "a little damp", but the pillows inside were wet! And because the zippers came completely loose when I put them on, I had to pull the zipper's teeth apart to pull the pads out without being able to re-close the "guards" (not that I wanted to, as they don't actually work) . If you don't want your cat urinating on your pillows, don't buy them. . .
