These things are even more mesmerizing than 3D turntables. Pair them together and both will work together. It will NOT work without something to spin it, be it a battery powered spinner or a 3D windmill. Most good spinners have a tiny hole in the bottom flange where you can hang another spinner or a stabilizing ornament. You don't need string when you have a tiny hole like this - the hook from this spiral goes right into that hole. When the upper spinner turns in the wind, this spiral also turns, creating the optical illusion that the glass ball slowly "moves" up and down in the spiral. It's just beautiful - make sure the ball you choose is a good color and will sparkle in the sun. I chose azure blue and it looks even better in person than on video. UPDATE: It started rusting on the top of the coil in less than a month. I didn't expect it to last more than one season, but really? I deducted a star.
