I've been buying disposable filters for years. I have the size 10x24x5i, about $25 each. I change these filters 2 or 3 times a year depending on how powerful the fan is in the house. It builds up over the years. Air circulation by a fan cleans the air along with the filters, but pollutes it faster. I cringe every time I pick one off the store shelf. I found out that the K&N brand makes both home and automotive air filters. The K&N filter is only 1 inch thick so I had to create a clamp to hold it in the larger space I have for the real one. The filter performance is higher than what I usually buy. So the filter catches more particles from the air, so it's a step up. The frame is made of durable hard plastic. I know it won't bend or tear when inserted or removed from the oven. I am sure that it will serve me for many years without any problems. The design of the filter is very similar to car engine filters. What I have for my own car. I bought the filter when my car had 23,000 miles, now it has 300,000 and I still use the same filter. The beauty of this filter is that it can be cleaned. Instructions are super easy to follow. You'll need to purchase a separate bottle of cleaning spray, but this should be enough for multiple uses. There are drainage holes for water drainage in all corners. Don't worry about rusting with plastic frames. I plan to wash it in spring and fall which will be 3 new regular filters costing over $60 for a year. Also when buying a bottle of cleaner. This filter will save me money after a year of use. You no longer have to go to the store for filters. No more storing extra filters, you just need one that can be reused.
