As connection standards change for communication and charging electronic devices, the old cables I have cannot be used in some cases. In my case, I replaced some outlets with outlets that are also USB sockets. On two of them I have USB Type A (the old, flat, larger plug) and USB Type C (smaller plugs with rounded edges). All new devices I charge have USB-C and I needed a USB-C to USB-C cable to use the second USB output. The cable is very well constructed, the weak point being that the connector body is molded to the cable which reduces the break change at that twist point. It uses a very thick, smooth shell that can withstand many bends and kinks, making the connection to the plug more durable. No more flimsy wire/sheath attached to a bulky, hard piece of plastic. Please note that I usually purchase cables of various lengths to minimize the need for excessive cable tension or to get a lot of loops of unnecessary cable wire.
