Review on ๐ŸŽฎ D-Link DGL-4500 Extreme-N Selectable Dual-Band Gaming Router: Unleash Your Gaming Potential by Paul Mac

It's an absolute pity - adapters for laptops ONLY connect at speeds of 54Mbps! Support confirmed!

Everyone checks the wireless signal strength when using a wireless connection, but I'm not sure everyone checks the connection speed. I've used Netgear and Linksys N routers in the past and never had a problem. I wanted to upgrade to a gigabit router with USB print server capabilities, so I settled on the DGL-4500. In short, if your desktop or laptop doesn't have a D-Link wireless adapter, you can probably connect at 54Mbps (G) with N adapters as well. D-Link Technical Support confirms this. Apparently they get calls all the time because the guy knew about my problem before I even told him what it was. Good? I have three laptops at home and they are all connected to my old Netgear WNR2000 at 130Mbps. Now they all connect at 54Mbps to this D-Link router. Three words: He's coming back. I'll buy a Netgear WNDR3700 and say goodbye to D-Link forever. I can understand "better" performance when pairing product brands, but this situation prevents even unpaired brands from working properly. What's the point of having an N laptop that can't even connect to N? It's just bad.
