What an experience it was to purchase the Maono professional USB gaming podcasting microphone kit. I'm just getting started. I'm trying to get my gear in order (slowly) and after many hours of browsing and reading reviews I settled on $64.99. opened it. Inside the well-padded case, I found a Maono USB mic, a USB 2.0 cable, a shock mount, a telescopic mic mount, a sturdy table stand, a pop screen, and a foam filter. Case does not close as described. The second thing I noticed was that the USB cable was flimsy and flimsy with a few kinks. When I plugged it into the USB port, the female end was loose and there was too much play in the port for a detectable connection, and my computer couldn't see any additional hardware, and the mic didn't respond at all. I called Revain immediately. Technical support. Amazing, helpful representative quickly put a new and better cable in my $00 trolley and it was shipped promptly. Pictures. There's no point in just throwing it away and letting your computer help you with your work. TA Dah! The Maono USB mic works and I recorded a demo session. The microphone's polar pattern is cardioid, which means you have to speak fairly close to the diaphragm at the front of the microphone. The Maono label should be opposite your voice. Don't do what I did, put it backwards into the shock mount and then think it's not working properly. This microphone delivers a deep, rich, low-level output and cancels ALL background noise. Even if someone sits on the other side of the microphone and coughs, it will turn itself off. The stand is very, very strong and heavy. It doesn't lose its balance fully extended and I believe in its ability to hold each of the large mics upright. Gear for that kind of money, especially in addition to all the goodies that come with minus a crappy USB cable.
