Being 100% cotton it will shrink a bit but is long enough to tuck into at the foot of my XL double bed. I really struggled to find a duvet that was long enough, double duvets just don't fit an XL bed. I like the weight of the cotton versus the synthetic/acrylic duvet. Being cotton it also "fixes" the sheet to the duvet, synthetic is just slippery and the bed "falls apart" overnight. When my bed doesn't feel good (the comforters feel right and stay in place) I just don't sleep well because shifting the comforters wakes me up with the weight hanging more on one side than the other. This is very frustrating. But this comforter honestly adds just the right amount of weight, I'm very comfortable. The edge is very well finished and the quilt feels high quality.
