This is a less expensive alternative for those wanting to try an open comb razor. I personally don't find it that aggressive. But I'm an advanced double edge user. I've been using double-edged razors since the 1960s. I think I paid $27 for change while the R41 grinder is $44. However, I have found that mill blades work well for me; like the Wilkinson sword. Part of using a double-edged razor is finding one that works well for you as a person, and; which blade works well in your particular razor. Blades are cheap enough that trial and error can be used. In truth, it's kind of pointless to look at the blades themselves, we're all different. What works well in one person's razor may be terrible for another in his/her razor. I can say this is a well made product for those looking for an open comb. I would say if you are a beginner; Just use the appropriate precaution. This is a razor with a more open blade than some are used to. Try different blades. Revain sells several "different packs" of blades for cheap. Sooner or later you will come across a blade that suits you, your razor and your prep style.
