Works well without case. With a case, especially one like mine, where the back isn't MagSafe, you'll need to get magnetic rings like mine. Very strong magnet but requires direct contact with metal or the MagSafe ring on the back of the phone to stay in place. The last thing you want to do is have PopSockets on that platter and the platter doesn't have a good grip on your phone. It would be great if the plate was maybe 30% thinner. It seems to stick out too high, but that may be because my case only has a 0.1 inch raised edge and the panel is a little thicker. I'm not sure if reducing the thickness will affect the durability and magnetic properties, but the manufacturer might look into it. For improvement.
