I have installed two of these antennas at home and am in the process of installing a third. I have read other reviews on the Amazon site for this antenna and will look at some of the more common comments. Buy your own coaxial cable (RG6 quad shield) from a supplier online or near you. Learn how to use coax tools. I recommend purchasing a compression tool and a coax cable stripper, available from Home Depot under the Ideal brand. Also buy a supply of coaxial connectors. DO NOT use old style compression fittings - too much hassle and unreliability. The pre-built extensions are WAY overpriced. If you're messing around with electronic components, you'll end up saving on buying pre-made cables.2. You can buy an F-Female to SMB-Male adapter online. Look carefully at the picture how the jack looks like. Due to the small size, it is difficult to distinguish between the male and female versions. You need one for each incoming XM.3 receiver. There are endless comments on the outer shoe. Note: The shoe is designed to be installed before the coaxial end is completed. Lubricate and tighten the WD40 cable before disconnecting. If this is not possible, the silicone bead also seals the joint. For absolute purists there is also overpriced silicone grease for such things. I had no problems downloading.4. There is satellite transmission "in the sky" as well as terrestrial repeaters broadcasting the XM signal. Determine what reception you are receiving by looking at the receiver's display (not all receivers have this feature). This is where it makes sense to have an XM receiver built into the receiver component - mine has a video output showing the channels and type of signal being received. The point is, you might have more antenna placement options than you think. Rural users like me rely on the sky signal.5. I have two receivers connected to the same antenna but without an XM approved splitter. The receivers have sensitive antenna check circuitry that picks up the signal but constantly signals "Antenna Check" when both are on at the same time. It is cheaper to install an additional antenna than to purchase an XM-approved splitter. If you look at some aftermarket satellite splitter kits, not all will work, and many don't state whether they are for satellite video or SiriusXM reception. The Terk XM6.6 has a market price of $38 in this test. Go online and set up an account to manage your account and get repeat access to recipients. Remember that it's best to leave devices on for at least 20 minutes a month to keep the recipient unblocked. Our get daily use.7. The best way to mount this antenna is with a J-type wall mount. This allows you to level and ground the mount. I had a satellite TV antenna replaced and persuaded the technician to keep the old mount.
