This is the BEST you can buy!

Well where do I start? If, like me, you're not familiar with computers or technology, but are fascinated by all these bizarre things, you'll need patience! You must watch tons of videos. You must read a lot of reviews! Getting started isn't easy, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy! Let me start with different types of machines. Is there a direct drive print head and a bottom tube print head? Direct drive is better as you can print with flexible filament and other types in general. Sidewinder is direct drive. Most Creality printers that seem comparable to artillery printers are floor extruders. After a long research, I decided on the direct drive for various reasons. Another key feature that I find important is the auto-leveling of the platform. Leveling the platform is probably the most important thing you need for a good print. Without a leveled bed, not only will it not print, it will be a mess. So the thought of manually leveling the bed scared me. I couldn't find a direct drive printer with automatic table leveling, I had to make a choice. I drove direct drive. I'm glad I did. Creality printers have many quality control issues after much research. Leveling the bed was terribly difficult using the methods they suggested in the instructions and on YouTube. They say use a piece of paper to set the gap, it just doesn't work. I ended up spending about $8 and buying a set of probes! This set the gap perfectly at 0.10 in all corners and in the middle! This simple task improved the quality of my printouts by 100% and also eliminated another problem - bed-sticking! Now that the heated bed is level, it magically holds the object. Everything sticks like glue until the print is done, and then when it cools it peels off effortlessly. Now that the bed is level you don't need to re-level it unless you move the entire machine. So don't base your purchase on this feature like I almost did. The extruder is more important. Also, level the bed during heating, as this will affect the bed. Another thing about the side wrap is that it is VERY QUIET! You can literally put it next to a crib and not wake your baby up! It also prints incredibly fast. The print area is huge, you need a printer with a lot of space so you can print big things like cosplay helmets or whatever. . You can also print smaller things, or I printed several things at once. For example 10 identical parts or 10 different parts. With a small bed, you're limited to one thing at a time and need to glue the pieces together to complete the project. I printed tiny parts in incredible detail in 5 minutes and large parts in literally 26 hours! Once you set it up, you can trust it and walk away. I also recommend that you get an inexpensive camera like Wyse so you can track your progress from anywhere. I found a website called 3d nexus that has the best setup information you can think of! That's all you need to set everything up! All guides and settings and videos in one place! I use Cura for the slicing program and Thingiverse for uploading stuff for printing. I was afraid to go into this because I was afraid of 3D CAD. I thought I would never understand. I found that everything I wanted to print and more was already ready and available for free on Things or other websites. Everything you can imagine is already done and available! All you have to do is run this through a slicer program, in my case Cura. The printer comes with a program but I couldn't find much information about it other than that it's more for professional types. It works great, but it's too technical for me. Everything I mentioned above is free except for probes. There are a lot of people involved in this hobby or whatever you call it. I would recommend the artillery printer Facebook group. They quickly answered all of my questions. If you are looking for an FDM type filament printer, again look for a direct drive extruder or print head so you can print with any type of plastic, rubber or carbon filament. You can literally print anything with Sidewinder! You need a heated bed because that will give you a good grip without using glue etc. You need a big bed because you can use it to print anything from small items to large ones! With small beds, you glue things together and you'll have an impression. Everything about this Sidewinder X1 is amazing once you get it right. I almost forgot the assembly! That's easy! Maybe 4 screws? A few nuts and that's it! I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it comes with all the tools needed to assemble it. I would recommend that you watch one of the hundreds of assembly videos available online instead of reading the book that comes with it. After all, the price difference can be huge. I paid more than I should have paid because the description said it was the latest version. I later learned that the version was easy to find, if there is a reset button on the right side of the touch screen, this is the latest version! It's the tiny black button you can see in the photos! I paid almost a hundred dollars more than I should have paid. I would return it if there were no issues with repackaging and paying for return shipping. Learn from my mistake. I'm saving up for a second one and was going to buy a polymer type for smaller things, but after that I'm buying another Sidewinder x1! It is so good. I can honestly say this is probably the best tool or toy I have ever bought, the possibilities are endless and it feels like magic! You think about what you want, press "Print" and whoosh! Suddenly appears! It's like something out of a movie! If you have any questions, ask, I'm happy to help.
