Review on 🚲 Thule Yepp Rear Rack: Enhancing Convenience and Versatility by Ans Brownlee

Revainrating 5 out of 5

As with many reviews it was missing screws, very heavy but not many other viable options.

A used Yepp Maxi needed this luggage rack. We fitted the Yepp Mini's front mount to my husband's bike and decided it was worth mounting it on the back of my bike. It's pretty hard. The hardware will most likely be missing when you receive it, mine seems to have arrived with all the brackets except for a shorter one which I don't need. It says there are two sizes of rack, but after searching the web archive on the old Yepp website, I realized that the difference between the 28" and 26" models is only in the brackets that come with them consists. The Thule website isn't very helpful these days either. Either way, once you add an 8 pound rack and an 8 pound seat and, say, a 25 pound child, your bike will behave differently. Probably the answer is a special longer bike, cargo bike or trailer. I'm not exactly sure what the answer is here. It seems possible that you could braze this post to an existing steel frame with additional spacers provided the frame is stiff and long enough to begin with. So yes I installed it. Even without Yepp Maxi and child, it is quite heavy. YMMV, but maybe consider a dedicated trailer or cargo bike for kids. That's my $0.02.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Problems
