While these shoes fit my wide footed son well, their ability to negotiate rough terrain does not make them true hiking shoes. We bought them especially for my son so he can play with lots of rocks in the garden (that's what sneakers are for). We were at Disney for 10 days and the shoes looked great on the sidewalk. Three weeks later, playing in the backyard, the shoes looked like this. My son is not rough with shoes but the terrain is rocky and lives in the desert.
