That's a real engineering joke. I bought them to decorate the tree by the driveway of our house and figured solar power would be a no-brainer, but they had no quality control. One sentence didn't light up at all. The other would only light up when the solar panel is pointing at a flat surface (rather defeating the aim). I opened the back to see if it was just a loose connection due to shipping and no. It just sucks. The battery in them was 1 AA lithium-ion (or so it was advertised). I also checked the batteries in each one and they were charged so the wiring is just terrible. Fixing this would require me to do some serious rearrangements of the internals and it just wouldn't be worth the time or effort. Especially when the rest of the wiring around the world is just as bad. Save yourself the hassle and by all means avoid these lights/manufacturers.
