I've had the lamp for about a year now and am very happy with it. I actually bought two and may buy another one to hang on my bedside table. The on/off switch works perfectly. A simple touch and it turns on/off. The small LED that recognizes the switch at night is also very practical and doesn't get in the way. You can choose between different lighting modes, from "sleeping" (yellowish, like the old lamp) to "reading" mode (warm window sill, but "whiter" light is what I always have on my desk use). Between the two, there's a 'training' mode that looks like neon lights and a 'relax' mode that has more yellow tones. Each has multiple levels of intensity (in fact, they can be dimmed). I've never used the 60 minute shutdown feature, but it seems to work. Last but not least, the USB port is incredibly useful and works really well. I have tried other lamps and this is by far the best. I would recommend this one. Hope that helps.
