We just moved to the Pacific Northwest which is known for its rain. We're having a drought now, but they assure me the rain won't bother here. Haven't had a chance to use it in the rain yet, although I'm looking forward to it - imagine getting in the car and closing the umbrella and the water is NOT pouring on you! So great! In any case, even though I didn't get a chance to get it wet, I played with it because it opens so aggressively. There's a real thrill in that! Then you press the button again and it folds back together. However, it is not removed. It's a manual operation and you'll need some muscle strength to push it back in. It's very durable, and while I wouldn't use it during a hurricane, it's fine on a strong windy day. Rain.
