I just started calligraphy class and this set has everything I need. The glass tip was easy to clean, but you have to be careful. For that reason I keep a plastic cover on it when I'm not using it. Ink when they first arrived I noticed that there was metallic gold on the side that was lying. I shook the ink and found that you should do this with all of the ink before using it. The eyedropper that comes with this kit really helps, so I won't be constantly dipping my pen in a real bottle of ink as that can create more mess than necessary. The stand that holds the pen allows the pen to rest easily on my desk rather than laying it flat. When I have ink on my pen, this setting is usually under a paper towel in case the ink drips. I'm very comfortable holding a pen and I love the blue flamingo. Although I'm still learning, this kit has made my learning process a lot easier. The ink perfectly saturates the paper I use, does not spread and does not smear when writing. Dries pretty quickly too. This set is definitely recommended for every beginner.
